Lee Carter has represented the 50th district in the Virginia House of Delegates since 2018. Earlier this month, he announced his candidacy in Virginia’s Democratic Party primary election for governor.
Lee was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 2006 to 2011. During this time, he completed tours in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. His unit was also one of the first to respond to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
Since becoming a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, he has passed bills to expand wage protections for airport workers, lower the monthly cost of prescription insulin, and to allow Virginians to cooperatively own their own workplaces.
He has also campaigned with Bernie Sanders and served as Virginia co-chair for his 2020 presidential campaign.
